We tell you what things cost.

Abbott & Clark is an interior design studio. We work on single rooms, whole-home schemes and period properties, designing around how you actually live and what you can actually spend.

We work with private clients, and with builders, developers and fellow designers who want a scheme, a specification and an FF&E pack they can build from.

What we do

Interior design services offered by Abbott & Clark
Residential interior design Interiors built around the way you actually live: practical, personal, and made to outlast a trend.
Period property design We work with what the house already has: original features, architectural detail, the right materials and colours. Older homes made comfortable for modern life without stripping out their history.
Design & decoration Colour, finishes, furniture, lighting and accessories drawn together into one coherent scheme.
Soft furnishings Bespoke curtains, blinds, cushions and upholstery, the layer that puts warmth and texture into a room.
Remote interior design The same design work, wherever you are. A full, considered scheme without the site visits.
FF&E & procurement Furniture, fixtures and equipment selected to your style and budget, with itemised packs so you can see exactly where the money goes.
Single room design One bedroom, one kitchen, one sitting room. A single space, properly resolved.
Whole-home schemes Every room considered together so the house flows, while each room keeps its own character.
Sourcing & styling The finishing pieces: furniture, artwork, lighting, accessories, and the last details that make a house feel lived in.
Extensions & property enhancement Space planning and interior improvements that make more of the property you already own.
An olive-green study: marble fireplace, scalloped mirror, brass sconces and a shearling chair.

Hiring a designer shouldn’t feel daunting

We are two women who genuinely like this work and are easy to talk to. We would rather the process felt exciting than overwhelming, and we would rather you ended up with a house that feels like yours than one that looks like ours.

Your budget sits at the centre of every decision. We will not encourage you to spend beyond your means, and we will be open about costs the whole way through.

Hiring a designer looks like an added expense. It is also how you avoid the expensive mistakes: the wrong sofa, the second skip, the kitchen that has to come out again. Deciding once, and deciding well, is usually the cheaper route.

How the work runs

  1. Let’s talk

Get in touch by email or through social media. We have a first conversation about the project, your ideas, and what you want the space to do.

  2. Consultation & measure

We visit the property, meet you properly, understand the space, and take the initial measurements.

  3. Your design scheme

We present the scheme: materials, colours, finishes and the overall direction, then talk it through with you.

  4. Budget & costs

Everything laid out clearly, so you can see where the investment is going before anything is ordered.

  5. Plan of work

The key stages written down, with what to expect at each one.

  6. Dates & timings

We agree the schedule, keep it moving, and keep you informed as it goes.

  7. Installation

The exciting part. We coordinate the final details and the install, and the drawings turn into rooms.

  8. Completion

Everything finished, styled, and ready for you to live in.

  9. The final reveal

If you are happy for us to, we would love to photograph the finished house and show the work we did together.

From the first conversation to the last cushion being plumped, we are there for all of it.

Meet us

The studio is Louise Abbott and Madison Clark. You deal with us directly, from the first conversation to the last delivery.

We work across single rooms, whole houses and period properties, and we are as comfortable talking to a builder about a specification as we are talking to you about a sofa.

What clients say

“They told us in the first meeting that we couldn’t do the whole house on our budget, and which half to do first. Nobody else had been that straight with us.”
Helen Mowbray · whole-home scheme, Haywards Heath
“We build eight houses a year. The item packs come through costed and specified, and I have never had to ring up and ask what something is.”
Tom Bramley · developer, Burgess Hill
“I expected to be talked into things. Instead I got asked what we actually do in the evenings, and the room came out of that.”
Rachel Okafor · single room design, Sandbanks
